I Got One!
I'm pretty happy to report that I won a WeddingWire Bride's Choice Award.... (drum roll please)... for the second year in a row! Sweet! This award recognizes and celebrates excellence in quality and services within the wedding industry (their words, not mine.) But apparently this means I'm in the top 5% of wedding professionals! So, thanks to all my awesome clients out there who gave me great reviews. If you want to read what people are saying about me, check it out here.

Jadyn - Newborn
Well I've been sorta slacking with the whole blogging thing lately. I still have a zillion sessions from the past couple of months to get up, but I've been surprisingly busy! I guess it's a good problem to have. :)
Over Thanksgiving break on my way back from spending the holiday at my parent's house in TN, I was lucky enough to photograph a beautiful ten-day-old baby! Jadyn is my friend Marissa's child, and as it turns out, a great model too! :) I didn't even have to pretend that this baby was cute because she actually really was! (Wait... I would never do that...)
From this session, I learned that I am no baby whisperer. This was good practice for me. I mean, it's really not easy to make a newborn feel relaxed enough to sleep in a basket or basin or whatever other uncomfortable container might be cute. It's tricky, people! But overall, I was pretty happy with what we ended up with, and I feel more equipped to do it even better next time. :)

Katie & Matt - Historic Savage Mill
I haven't even had a chance to do the reflective "looking back on 2010" blog post I've been planning because 2011 has started off with a bang! Katie and Matt's wedding was my first of the year, and one of three for me in January.
While I always say I have fun at weddings (and it's true), Katie and Matt's took "fun" to a whole new level. I don't think there was a person in the room not having a blast!
Katie and Matt's reception was at the lovely Great Room in Historic Savage Mill. This was my second time at this particular venue, and as I thought the first time, it's really awesome for photos!
Jumping shots are maybe a little overdone and possibly even cliche in today's wedding industry, but a well-executed jump always brings a smile to my face. It's just fun.

My Year in Song: 2010
So for the past three years, I've compiled a list of my favorite songs I came across during that particular year. Here are the 2008 and 2009 lists if you're interested.
I listened the heck out of these songs - that's why they're on the list. As I say every year, they were not necessarily released in 2010, just heard by me. :)
1. "The Cave" - Mumford & Sons
2. "The City and The River" - The Rescues
3. "Crossfire" - Brandon Flowers
4. "Right Now" - Ryan Star
5. "Chicken Fried" - Zac Brown Band
6. "John Wayne" - Sons of Sylvia
7. "Hot Air Balloon" - Owl City (don't hate)
8. "Airplanes" - B.O.B.
9. "Seeing Stars" - Jack Ingram
10. "Young Blood" - The Naked and Famous

Debbie & Joe - Martin's West Wedding Photography
I've rarely seen a bride more excited to be married than Debbie. Her attitude was contagious, and I loved every minute of their wedding!
Martin's West was both the ceremony and reception site for Debbie and Joe. I love the white pillars!
