Second Shooting!

A few weeks ago I had the awesome opportunity to work with Stephanie of Stephanie Miller Photography as a second photographer. Aside from being a cool person and fun to hang out with, Stephanie is also a great photographer! We probably had more fun than we should have "working" at this wedding. :)

Anyway, the best part about being a second photographer is getting to experiment with new ideas and creative angles without the pressure of having to get "the shot." That was Stephanie's job so I kicked back and tried to think a little outside the box.

I was extra excited to hear we would be going on the groom's boat to do a few shots. Finally! A year in Annapolis and I get to be on a boat!

Almost.

I ended up shooting from the dock while Stephanie climbed into the boat. And I mean into. Check out this photo:

Here's some other boat stuff I grabbed:

The ceremony was at the awesome St. Mary's church in downtown Annapolis. I like how you can see all the guests' faces turning toward the bride in this one:

And occasionally at weddings I find stuff other than people in love:

Everybody was Segway Riding... (set to the tune of "Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting")

One thing that's been on my bucket list is riding a Segway. I don't know why, they've just always intrigued me. So when the Groupon of the day was for Segzone in Annapolis, I was pretty pumped! I thought Paul would go, but he chickened out (claiming he didn't want to get run over by a car - pshhh!) so Jamie happily joined me instead.

Not gonna lie, this is likely the nerdiest thing I've ever done. (It's just the helmet, really. It's impossible to look cool in a helmet unless you're riding a Harley.) But it was super fun!

So I've crossed one thing off my bucket list and added another: Own a Segway. One of these days...

Joe & Ienne - Annapolis Engagement Photography

I really like Joe and Ienne. I always feel incredibly blessed to have so many awesome clients who are up for anything, and who share excitement in my (often crazy or random) artistic vision.

Sarah & David - Bridgewater Engagement Photography

I headed back down to my old stomping grounds (Harrisonburg, VA) to photograph Sarah and David's engagement session. Well, we went to Bridgewater technically, but they're all so close. (And friends, if I didn't call you, please know I was there for less than 24 hours!)

We started off at Bridgewater College, where Sarah and David basically took me on a walking tour of the campus - they pointed out the apartment building where David used to live (D-3), the gazebo where they got engaged, the chapel where they're getting married, and a variety of other spots.

Then we headed to Wildwood Park, where I'd actually shot before. I love the awesome reflection you can get in the water at this place!

Niki & Chris - D.C. Engagement Photography

Both Niki and Chris spend time in DC for work, so they wanted photos that reflected a little bit of the city. We started at the Botanic Garden, and ended up right next door by the Capital. The only problem? Transformers 3 was filming there too! Parking was a challenge, and there were tons of people out, but it was pretty cool to look over and see the Optimus Prime Truck. (Yes, ok, I admit I had to look that one up.)

Chris warned me at the beginning that he doesn't smile in photos, but I think I caught a few...

Their wedding is in nine days, so I'm looking forward to working more with them soon!
